The petition was handed in to the BBC Trust on the 22nd May. The Trust said they will look at the petition in the forthcoming meetings in regards to 6Music and the Asian Network

Joe Ashdown31BrightonIt would be a shame for the BBC to axe these stations just because it is scared of the potential for the Government to attack it, especially as these stations provide exactly the kind of public, non-commercial service that the power brokers are asking the BBC to deliver. 6 Music simply would not work if run as a commercial station as it would mean its music policy became more formulaic in order to meet the requirements of its advertisers and their product placement. Save 6Music!
Alastair Duncan--6 music is what institutions like the BBC should be focusing on, not removing! Since the BBC is funded completley by all licence fee payers, surely it should serve all demographics? Where else in the BBC are music lovers catered for? Radio 1 or 2? Certainly not, sure they are passionate about music but they are not as diverse and educational as 6 music. Let commercial radio stations take care of commercial music! 6 music is a fantastic station, please do not force me to listen to cris moyles every morning :(

I've felt past it with Radio 1 and I'm not quite ready for 2 or 4. Try promoting the station if different places - I haven't seen any adverts and only heard about it from a friend last week.
