The petition was handed in to the BBC Trust on the 22nd May. The Trust said they will look at the petition in the forthcoming meetings in regards to 6Music and the Asian Network

There are no other shows like Gideon Coe's, Mark Riley's, Craig Charles' or Adam & Joe anywhere on the airwaves, from their content to the sense of community they engender amongst their listeners, Not since the days of Peel has music radio been so consistently interesting (with apologies to Late Junction who do sterling work).

I hadn't listened to Asian Network before the proposed cuts but have checked it out since and feel it offers lots of output that isn't replicated in the commercial sector. Please save these vital services and don't downgrade the BBC. If you need to cut somewhere consider slimming down Radio 1, much of the output of this station is replicated by commercial radio.

I also listen to 6Music - I love Cerys Matthews' show. I find it's the best way to hear new and interesting music without being bored by the repetitive sounds on other channels.

The Asian network connects the whole of Britain with a passion for music. It tackles so many issues relevant to today's youth that other stations do not, I have loved the asian network since I started University 2 years ago. Young asians especially need it.

It's the only station for true music lovers to hear old favourites and discover new music.
