According to 2010 census data, there were 228,000 North Carolina couples in domestic partnerships and 12 percent of those were same-sex couples.
This means that any members of those 200,640 domestic straight partnership households will/can be having their medical insurance taken away if the insurance holder is not related to that family member directly. This will leave countless people rejected for medical procedures that they cannot afford.
