Despite calls by the Care Quality Commission for improvements to rural Norfolk's ambulance service, and an admission by the Chief Executive of East of England's Ambulance Service that some patients were receiving a "second class service", the government is reducing spending on ambulances.
Original proposals, in response to government cuts, was to take away up to 9 Double Staffed Ambulances from Norfolk and replace with some Rapid Response Vehicles – unable to take sick patients to hospital. Since this petition has started the Trust has u-turned and returned some of this resource but we still feel there should be no cuts within the ambulance service when response times are so poor.
This petition calls on government ministers and health officials to recognise the failings of ambulance response times in north Norfolk, to prevent cuts which could mean a reduction in the service, and to commit more resources to the area to address our needs.
