UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE
Dear Parents, Neighbors, and Friends,
Over the past year, thousands of you signed the petition for a Charter High School in Aventura.
Our city officials have expressed, that due to the lack of land and funding, they will not be able to build a Charter High School in the city. Furthermore, they stressed that it is the responsibility of Miami Dade School Board to solve the overcrowding in our schools and the creation of an additional High School.
Although, this is not exactly what we petitioned for, I am pleased to report that all of your efforts had a positive impact. Miami Dade Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, has confirmed in our Community Meeting that if the Bond Issue passes, an additional $1.2 Billion will be available to renovate existing schools and build an additional High School in NE Miami Dade. We hope that this measure will solve the growing problem of overcrowding in Aventura’s designated schools.
You may obtain more information about the Bond Issue at http://bondsforschools.dadeschools.net. These funds are crucial to make improvements in our children’s education, and it is up to each and every one of us to get it to pass. In less than 30 days, on Nov. 6th, all of us will have the opportunity to go to the polls and vote on this important topic. So I urge you to vote YES on the Bond for Schools Issue # 222.
Take a moment to go on to Alberto Carvalho’s facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/alberto.carvalho.146) , to learn more, and let him know you support his commitment.
I want to thank each and every one of you for the continued support.
I also, want to take a moment to thank the Mayor, Ms. Susan Guttllieb and the City Manager, Eric Soroka, for their support in helping to find a solution to our request.
Best Regards,
Frida Lapidot
