BAN THE BURKA IN THE UK

Opened on May 23, 2010 | Contact Petition Author

Ban the Burka in the UK.  Wearers of this are a security threat.  If motorcycle helmets and hoodies have to be removed for security reasons, why should we feel safe around someone wearing a Burka?

michael hughes gill58ban this obscene garment in christian countries. I have spent a lifetime travelling the workd including many years in the middle east. you are not even allowed to wear a crucifix in some of the countries there, and that includes when we were fighting for THEIR LIBERTY ! Motorcycle helmets, ski masks, balaclavas and hoodies are all banned in banks etc, here, so why must the burka be allowed, especially as we knnow of at least one case where a MASS MURDERER escaped through an airport while wearing one !
Jonathon Parker15-
Skye Culley19We have to abide by their beleifs in their country. But that cannot do the same for us?
cheryl fanson40consider myself a feminist my daughter is part iranian so can't be seen as racist. why are well known feminists so quiet on this matter?
Angela King24The burqua is a sign of extremist Muslim fundamentalist culture and their refusal to assimilate into the countries that middle eastern citizens immigrate to. It is a symbol of oppression against women and a huge security issue. If there is nothing to hide, then why wear it. I vote to ban the headwear.
Pauline Lister52I find the `burka totally offensive and should definitely be banned, anyolne could be wearing it.
Laura M24Show your face - it is not a shameful thing, you should not need to hide.

Josh Bowler-If the wish to come to this country, claim benefits, use our health care and take advantage of goodwill then surely they should at least live how we do in our own country. If we were to go over there, our women would be forced to wear one and there have been several instances of stoning because of this.
val kitcheman60as usual one rule for them and one for us
tracey harris33im not against muslims just the burkra
Connie Jones37What is there to say - it's simply ridiculous! Why wait until someone uses this ridiculous garb as cover for crime or worse. And walking around and seeing it worn on the streets is like somthing out of Starwars. Come on Muslims, wake up you're all in the 21st century whether you like it or not!
charles james59Personally i don't want to live in the mddle ages. Let's not allow primitive cultures to impose their outdated values on civilised society and in the process make women 2nd class citizens again. We've already fought that battle and won it!
chris jones49hte burka is insulting to civilised females
Samerah Begum65DO NOT BAN IT!

Anne Devlin54I am liberal and tolerant. However, wearing the burkha is not mandatory and is a decision which appears to suggest the wearer deliberately wants to be exclusive and, in some cases, intimidating. If it's so important, I don't think the UK is the right country to choose to live in, especially when we're rallying to save a muslim woman in Iran from being stoned to death.

Alistair Duncan32It creates division, seperation, resentment. oppression. there should be a total ban
lynda64This is our country .If we went to there's -we would have to obey there rules. We are threatended enough with the suiside bombers.Without being threatend by them not knowing if it's a man or woman. This country needs to wake up to our needs

the list could be endless, what ajoke this country is HaHa but ime not laughing neither am i racist
Katherine Wadsworth26What really annoys me is that when I went to UAE I had to cover my arms and legs up which was fine because I was in a Muslim country and that’s their law so I respected that but why on earth don’t they abide by our rules? It could be anybody walking around underneath a Burka. The sooner this ban comes into place the better.
Michael Connell62hiding behind any form of mask is anti-social and should be banned
