Virgin Media offer the fastest and most reliable broadband in the UK but its a postcode lottery as to wheather or not you can get it. With speeds of up to 120Mbit and 1Gbit in testing it makes even BT's fibre look like a joke. Unfortunately Aberdeen isn't one of the lucky cities and has to put up with lack luster ADSL connectivity despite being the oil capital of europe.
Lets demonstrate to them there is a demand and that we want them to get the finger out and make some serious investment in bringing superfast broadband to one of Scotland's largest cities.
BT are upgrading exchanges but these do not guarantee provision of superfast broadband as it is still dependent on new street cabinets being installed subject to planning permission.
Sign the petition and encourage Virgin Media to bring cable broadband to Aberdeen. If we can get 150000 signatures this represents 75% of the population of aberdeen which should be more than enough to convince them that there is more than enough potential customers here to justify the cost. If we assume that each customer paid £35 per month for a 100mbit connection then they would be earning £5.2million per month in turnover!
