The Vision:

To transform the area known as The Square and High Street into a vibrant and attractive space, which will become the heart of our community; where retailers, shop owners and residents of all ages will want to spend time.

A year round programme of street entertainment and events in The Square area will help raise the profile of the town, increase footfall and make it an enjoyable and fun place for everyone.

The creation of a multi-use centre in the town would enable local people to showcase / sell their goods and crafts under a new "Made in Cleator Moor" brand. This would also create opportunities for new businesses / traders using the expertise of the existing Phoenix Enterprise Centre.

Building on our art history and links with the artist Lowry and local artist Conrad Atkinson, provide a local museum facility to showcase the wealth of local artistry.

We will build on the pride of the local people, using the strong community spirit and traditional successful sports history of the town, encouraging local clubs to work more closely together to promote a healthy and active environment in the town. This partnership will work to bring back local events such as Cleator Moor Sports.

The development of a new health centre in the area, which marks a big step forward for health care in West Cumbria, will contribute to our vision for a more healthy and active town. We will build on existing links with the C2C cycleway, coast to coast walk, and adventure sports in the nearby Ennerdale Valley. This, combined with the proposed development of and extreme sports facility in the area, will help boost the outdoor tourism related retail and hospitality within the town and be a fantastic opportunity for new and existing retailers in the next few years.
