On the 16th April 2006, Brett Goldin and Richard Bloom were hi-jacked/kidnapped/assaulted and robbed at gun-point and ultimately murdered. The perpetrators were quickly brought to justice and convicted.

Despite the fact that we fought and won the parole hearings in both November 2011 and January 2012, to keep these criminals behind bars, an amendment to the law has since been passed through parliament stating that, as of 1 March 2012, the minimum sentence before application for parole, has been lowered from 4/5 of time served, to a shocking HALF of the handed-down sentence.

On 17 May 2012, Denise and Samantha received a letter from Correctional Services, the following is an excerpt taken from that letter

"Offenders Nurshad Davids and Jade Wyngaard have also received six (6) months special remission of sentence from the presidential amnesty of 27 April 2012.

You are hereby informed that the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board at Drakenstein Management Area will have a parole board hearing with Nurshad Davids and Jade Wyngaard on 4 July 2012 at 9h00 at Drakenstein Correctional Services in Paarl." (sic)

We are sure you will agree that this is both appalling and a travesty of our democracy. We hope that you will take the time to sign this petition and strongly voice your opinion.

These two criminals will appear before the Parole Board on 4 July 2012 and it is up to us, the good, law-abiding men and women of South Africa and beyond, to do whatever we can to see that justice prevails.

Our question to the judiciary… Why bother to even hand down sentences for violent crimes if they are so easily negated?
