WE THE UNDERSIGNED, ask you, United States Representative Joe Garcia (D-Florida), to give back the money that was provided to your campaign by Emerge USA and its leaders.
Despite its innocuous name, Emerge USA is an extremist organization which seeks to give radical Muslims a political voice in America.
The co-chairman of Emerge, South Florida attorney Khurrum Wahid, has provided legal representation to a number of high profile convicted terrorists, including members of al-Qaeda. He was also a legal advisor for the national office of the Hamas-affiliated CAIR.
In 2011, Wahid himself was placed on a U.S. government terrorist watch list.
This year’s annual fundraising banquet for Emerge, which you yourself participated in, featured an Islamic lecturer from England, Sayed Ammar Nakshawani, who is a devotee of Iran’s deceased terrorist leader Ayatollah Khomeini and who has called for the destruction of Israel. Nakshawani says, in a lecture found on his website, “It is barbaric that this Zionist state is allowed to continue.”
Two years ago, the chairwoman of your political party, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, canceled her keynote address in front of Emerge, after learning of its extremism from this author. Congressman Alcee Hastings followed suit and cancelled as well. You, however, Congressman Garcia, not only spoke in front of the group, you took thousands of dollars from it and its leaders!
We simply ask you to do the honorable thing and give back the money – specifically the money from the Emerge PAC, Khurrum Wahid, Emerge Secretary Amira Ishoof, host committee members Khalid Mirza and Ashraf Amdani, and any other monies you might have received from the group.
Sincerely,
