There is a huge dilema in Bracknell in regards to our homeless issues. at least 40% of the population of Bracknell is homeless, majority of those people are under 25, and most of those are even under 18.
There are not enough council properties avalible at the moment to house everybody, and the waiting list, even though now it has been changed into a bidding system to be pushed up the queue depending on how many bids you make compared to what band (priority of housing needed) you have been placed in, is still nearly a year long waiting.
There has been rumors in the news about some empty office blocks being changed into some more council flats, which is a fantastic idea, but the problem is, what are these people supposed to do in the meantime?
I am writing up this petition for people to sign to get the Mp's and council to use their funding to build homeless shelters, which are urgently needed in Bracknell.
A resident of Bracknell that is homeless has no other option but to sleep on the streets as no other county or town are willing to help out and let them use their homeless shelters as the resident is not one from there town or county and they already are usually full as it is.
I feel this is a serious issue which needs addressing as this year i have known at least 20 under 25 year olds becoming homeless and resorted to sleeping on the streets as there is no other choice for them.
This petion is for two homeless shelters to be built; 1 for under 25's and 1 for over 25's.
I urge people to please sign and help us convinve the government to help our town as we desperatly need it!
