Save Hertford Bar: No Donations to Hertford College

We, the undersigned:

• will not under any circumstances donate monies to Hertford College in the future.
• will cease any ongoing donations that we may have set up in a direct debit scheme.

 

We, the undersigned, believe this action to be necessary because:

• The college has continuously and blatantly ignored the input of its members in this ongoing discussion.
• The Hertford College Bar is woven inexplicably into the very fabric of the student body, whether the Governing Body wishes this to be the case or not.

 

We, the undersigned, will only cease this action if:

• The Governing Body rescinds any plans it may have had to privatise Hertford College Bar.

 

Information:

Hertford College governing body have this week (28th May 2010) decided to implement fundamental changes to the student run bar.

They plan to,

i) Employ a professional manager in place of the student bar management.

ii) Perhaps move the bar to a location above ground. It has been hinted that the JCR may be looked at as a viable option.

Throughout the decision making process the JCR has experienced a complete lack of consultation and involvement.

Hertford College Bar as we know it is under threat. This petition is for all students of Hertford College, past or present, to state clearly and with financial implication to the Governing Body that their actions will not stand.
