Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Il Buco Restaurant has proudly been an integral part of Bond Street and the NoHo community for the past 22 years. To celebrate our first 10 years on Bond Street, we hosted the first "Sagra del Maiale" (Italian Pig Roast) in 2004, using an antique Italian tradition to honor our neighbors and customers for 10 years of support. We chose the Autumn Equinox as we opened the restaurant in September of 1994 and roasted a heritage pig with love right on Bond Street. Neighbors, friends and family alike lined up early for a buffet of all things pig, including apple pork sausage and ricotta fritters. The Sagra del Maiale grew to be a time-honored favorite of friends and neighbors.
After a 5-year hiatus during the construction and opening of our new restaurant on Great Jones Street, we resuscitated the Sagra del Maiale in honor of our 20th Anniversary in 2014. It was truly a lovely event, with neighbors as well as new and old friends in attendance. We held the pig roast again last year, on September 20th, 2015, with the support of the community and our loyal guests.
The Sagra del Maiale brings the neighborhood together for one afternoon a year to celebrate our community and the coming of Autumn. We wish to continue the annual tradition and ask for your support by signing this petition. We would like to be able to share with our Community Board the support that our guests and neighbors have voiced for this special event.
