ACM’s Loyal Address to The Queen

LOYAL ADDRESS:

To Her Most Gracious Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth II
Queen of Australia and Her other Realms and Territories,
Head of the Commonwealth

Your Majesty:

We, Your Majesty's faithful subjects, citizens of Australia assure Your Majesty of our loyalty and devotion to Your Majesty and to Your Throne;

We are Australians, holding different political views, coming from different ethnic origins, speaking for different generations and having had different experiences of life, but who have been united for the past two decades in defending our constitutional system of government;

We defend the place of the Crown in our Constitution believing that it has served our nation well and is indeed indispensable to our indissoluble Federal Commonwealth;

We recall with deep appreciation the service and loyalty you and your parents of happy memory, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, later the Queen Mother, gave to the Commonwealth and the world in the Second World War;

We recall with deep appreciation the declaration to the peoples of the Commonwealth of Nations which You made from Capetown when You attained the age of 21 that Your whole life, whether it be long or short, would be devoted to our service;

We recall the Oath You swore at Your Coronation;

We recall with pleasure and deep appreciation Your first and several subsequent visits, with His Royal Highness Prince Philip, to this Commonwealth of Australia;

We are conscious of your long interest and concern in this country and its peoples, and your willingness to accept additional burdens as Queen of Australia in the maturing of the constitutional relationships between the Commonwealth of Australia, the States and the United Kingdom under the terms of the Australia Acts;

We offer our warmest congratulations to Your Majesty on the Diamond Jubilee of Your Accession to the Throne;

We give thanks to Almighty God for the many blessings we have enjoyed during Your reign,

We pray Almighty God may always bless Your Majesty, Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and all the Royal Family.

And we now pledge ourselves to continue to work under Your continuing leadership for the common good in Australia and in the Commonwealth of Nations and for justice and peace throughout the world.
