THE FACTS ABOUT THE FIELD


ADJACENT TO THE SCHOOL


The New Forest District Council is proposing to change the designation of the field known as site MOS1 from green belt land to be able to offer a commercial developer the chance to build up to 30 dwellings.



  1. There is an affordable housing need in our village.

  2. If the re-designation happens some of the dwellings on this site will be allocated to affordable housing.

  3. There are other, believed to be more suitable sites in our village to build small pockets of affordable housing.

  4. Picturesque School Lane will be redesigned from a lane to a road.

  5. The development of 30 dwellings and the changes to School Lane would ruin our beautiful gateway to the village.

  6. There is no satisfactory reason for allowing a commercial development to go ahead on what is now green belt land.

  7. If the NFDC is successful in re-designating this beautiful green belt land where will it stop? 

  8. If you disagree with the proposals by NFDC to re-designate our green belt land for commercial purposes you need speak up.

The only valid ground for objection to the proposal is that it is ‘unsound’ which can be substantiated by mentioning that:



  • NFDC has not taken into account the detrimental effect on the immediate environment.

  • The green belt defines our village and creates a beautiful, important gateway into the village and which will be destroyed by inappropriate development.
