Oppose Ban on Firearms at the NH State House

Opened on December 22, 2009 | Contact Petition Author

Oppose Ban on Firearms at the NH State HouseIn a surprise action, various anti-liberty lawmakers in Concord acted behind closed doors to ban guns and knives at the State House, the Legislative Office Building, the Upham Walker House, legislative parking garages and lots, and any other facility that the Legislature controls. In a partisan, 8-3 vote, progressive Democrats sitting on the Joint Committee on Legislative Facilities today used a policy-making authority for legislative buildings to impose their out-of-touch and unconstitutional agenda on citizens, lawmakers and state office workers who would want to protect themselves from criminals who might try to harm them in these buildings. Section 2(a) of the New Hampshire constitution clearly protects the right to bear arms. Tell these legislators that they must obey the civil rights of all New Hampshire citizens to keep and bear arms, including at the State House and Legislative Office Buildings!

Suzanneedbery70DoverUnconstitutional!
Robert P Fregault-AmherstThe right to hold and bear arms is a constitutional right that I will not surrender. As stated (verbatim) in the Constitutuion: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Or as stated by Charlton Heston: "From my cold, dead hands!"
Paul F. Harnden-Amherst, NHThis is simply another brazen attempt to take away the rights of the individual without debate and in violation of Constitutional law. What is it that makes these people who are elected by we the people think they know what's best for us? Do they work for us or is it the other way around? Arrogance and power is a dangerous combination. This is obviously what we have in our State government. Change is necessary. Remove these people.

It DOESN'T say, "except in buildings controlled by the legislature"
William H. Lessmann47Londonderry, NHLiberals want to control people out of fear. It's always reaction leading to control, instead of pro-action that leads to change.
Harold J Morrissette45LondonderryBy Banning CCW they create a victim Zone!
Ted Maravelias41Windham, NHDon't ban the Right to Keep and Bear Arms at the State House. That would not be good.

Sincerely,

Ted Maravelias
Stephen Beltramini47Walpole, MAWow, you legislators had the nerve to set this policy up by committee barely a year after a vote of the full legislature resoundingly voted this ban down? This move is worthy of something the corrupt, Massachusetts General Court would do and, given that I may well be moving to NH myself soon, this contempt for the will of the full NH legislative body is disheartening to say the least.
