Parkside (Aldershot and District Mencap) is a registered charity (238671) that supports 350 adults and children with learning disabilities across Surrey and Hampshire.
Having discovered that we have unused land at the back of our premises on the Guildford Road, Aldershot we have decided to make use of the area and situate a portacabin which can be accessed by all local community groups. We would use the portacabin as a café for the general public and a meeting room for groups within the community.
As you may or may not know Parkside is situated next to Aldershot Park which is currently being redesigned to provide a fully inclusive play and sports park. The park is home to football, rugby, and cricket clubs as well as the local angling club and is used by families, dog walkers and for events. It is a prime location which is heavily used by the community, and currently there are no facilities for selling food or drink.
Through the Parkside Café we will have the opportunity to promote Parkside and the work we carry out within the local community, while also raising awareness and promoting inclusion. Looking at the geographical area our intention is to provide a low cost cafe service to the general public, allowing everyone to be able to enjoy the cafe. The cafe will give a fantastic opportunity for clients to volunteer and gain work experience skills.
We are currently applying for a substantial amount of funding from the Sita Trust towards our exciting new project that will greatly benefit Parkside and the local area. They are asking us to provide proof that our project is supported by the local community, please sign below if you support our proposal for the Parkside Café.
