OPERATION: TAKE OUR CITY BACK

We are coming to you to ask you a favor as a fellow citizen, neighbor, and friend. We are trying to put together an initiative for next week’s Boston carnival. Surely you have heard that 10 people were shot on Sunday, and another stabbing of an innocent young man just yesterday. Unfortunately, many other people of the community can state they have lost a friend or two to senseless violence in our community.

At this point, we have been pushed to the edge and feel ashamed it took us this long to really stand up to act. But when action is needed it is never too late to stand when you realize there is justice to be had and change to be made.

Goal/Objective:

We aim to bring awareness to non-violent and progressive actions amongst the Boston youth and general communities by coming together in great numbers to walk for peace.

When:

Boston Carnival Parade; Saturday August 25th, 2012

Outcome:

• Justice and peace for the victims of violence in Boston


• Encourage youth and community members to be involved in positive actives surrounding their safety


• Provide a source of information on non-violent subjects and outlets for self-advancement amongst the under privileged community members

*Costs are roughly estimated based upon quickly researched findings. Pricing may actually turn out to be slightly higher or lower, as we are pending quoting information from vendors. However, we expect itemized costs should nearly equal out to the total estimated cost provided given that some items may be donated.

Additional proceeds that run over our $10,000 upper goal will be even donated to the families of the 5 victims lost through out this past week.
