Please help me get Coco out of quarantine.

This beautiful little Pekingese is Coco. Not only is she a service dog that is trained to detect seizures, but she is my world and little life saver.

Since a pup, Coco was trained with me after I had an accident, which caused me to have seizures. Coco can identify and notifies me on the onset of a seizure.

As studies have gone, this is a rare ability and one that needs to be nurtured to ensure that the bonding from the start is not affected.

During a seizure Coco keeps me alert, calm, gets the attention of my Mum or doctor and more importantly makes me feel safe. Coco has won many awards for this and is the best friend you could possibly ask for.

Sadly, due to an error made by the Vet, Coco is no longer with me and is forced to live in quarnteen for 6 months.  This is why I am asking you to please sign the petition below to get her out and back where she should be....with me.

Since the introduction of the "PETS programme" this enables animals to travel to different countries only if the strict procedures are followed.   This includes having a microchip fitted to identify the animal, rabies injection, blood test to prove that she is clear of rabies and then waiting 6 months until she can travel.

We prepared Coco to travel under this programme to ensure she could come home with me. Coco's results were clear and she was able to travel.

On returning to the UK, Coco was scanned for her microchip, to ensure that it was her and to match it with her paperwork.

This is where the nightmare began…. we were informed that the microchip that we were told had been put in had been not been inserted correctly by the vet. So all of Coco's information was now registered to a microchip number that was not scanning on Coco.

Due to this error by the Vet, Coco was taken off me the USA and had to fly home on her own. My best friend is now forced to be in quarantine and will have to remain there for 6 months.

Apart from this being so unfair and unjust, Coco only knows being around us. It is due to human error yet Coco is having to be punished for this error.

Visiting Coco in the quarantine is the worse thing I have ever had to do and leaving her is worse.  It is cold and far from the loving home that she is use to with me.   I can already see that she is becoming distant and withdrawn. She doesn’t play ball, doesn’t interact and hides when I go into see her becoming so different.  No one to snuggle into or tiggle her tummy, play games or even watch the television or listen to music, all she hears are dogs barking.    No one can understand her little expressions or when she gets tired or when she wants to play. When she cries because she does not like the dark, no one can help her.

It is so wrong that this is happening to my Coco and the worse thing is I can not help her. All of the times that she has saved my life, I can not help her.

I am asking you to please sign my petition to give me a voice to try and get Coco with her family again.

Thank you for your time and should you want any other information, whether it be about Coco or the PETS programme, I will do all I can to help. I would not like anyone else to have to suffer the way Coco and I are having to.
