Save the RAT Card

This petition calls for Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to continue to provide the Roaming & Traveling (RAT) Card which entitles students to half price fare on buses in the region; the council’s new proposals do not recognise the impact that the withdrawal of this vital lifeline will have. The scheme not only helps students to and from their school, college or place of training but also gives support for work placements, university interviews, employment and leisure & voluntary work.
Despite previous indications that the scheme would be considered in April the council have given students less than 2 weeks’ notice to share their views! The RAT card currently enables social mobility, ensuring that young people of all backgrounds have accesses to affordable travel.
