We, the undersigned, are calling for urgent visible action by the MetroTraffic Dept, Councillor Simon Leill-Cock and the South Peninsula Subcouncil, and the Ministers dealing with transport and safety to fulfil their responsibilities individually and collectively to ensure that Kommetjie Road running through residential Fish Hoek is safe for motorists, pedestrians and residents living along its borders. We require the immediate allocation of additional traffic law enforcement and measures including traffic calming and permanent surveillance by means of `speed- enforcement\' cameras.
How many lives need to be lost before the authorities act? How much human suffering -emotional and financial- must be borne by victims of speeding, irresponsible and law-defying motorists? Enough is enough: it is time for action.
To the signatories: If you have been involved in an accident on Kommetjie Rd, Fish Hoek, please briefly state the facts and circumstances – no names or racial indication of perpetrators to be made or any libellous slurs. Please also indicate in each case the financial loss to you as far as you are able to accurately assess it.
With your support, we will present the authorities with a set of signatures and case studies to support the call for immediate effective action. Thank you for your support.
