The Oak Park Trails HOA has carefully studied the proposed Aldi Food Store location at Oak Park Trails and Mason Road and has had several meetings with the Aldi representative. In addition to evaluating how Aldi would fit into our neighborhood, we looked at their successes, failures and push back that they have received across the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Based on our due diligence, our HOA is opposed to the planned Aldi Food Store and for very sound reasons.
Aldi is not a good fit
Aldi’s “less is Less” retail concept is really a “bare bones is less” approach that doesn’t fit in with the retail landscape around the residential area.
Property Values
Aldi’s planned store location will lower property values in surrounding residential neighborhoods.
Safety
Increased traffic and the attraction of shoppers from neighborhoods in need of bare bone prices along with other factors will endanger current residents.
Aldi has been opposed in parts of the U.K, Australia and United States for similar reasons. Katy, Texas has a reputation that caters to family values.
