Stop Antibiotic Abuse

Scientists believe that the increasing trend of antibiotic resistance is due to many different factors. The most visible reason for antibiotic resistance is due the practice of physicians overprescribing drugs too frequently or for inappropriate reasons, such as viral respiratory infections that are immune to antibiotics. Other medical practices include patients not completing their prescribed antibiotic regiment which allow the surviving bacteria to develop resistance. A greater risk arises from the use of antibiotics used regularly in the feeds for animals--over 70% of all antibiotics are used in this manner and it is completely unregulated! This breeds antibiotic resistant bacteria in the animals and through consumption and the environment, humans are becoming increasingly more affected.
As a member of this society we should start take action, say no to your physician when he trys to prescribe antibiotic for inappropriate reason. We need to preserve this treasure for our future generations.
