Amongst Royal Mail's plans for modernisation is their decision to close their delivery office in Hartley Road, Longfield and move their operations to Dartford. Their plan is for their staff, many of whom live in the Longfield area, to drive to Dartford, be driven back out to the Longfield area to start their deliveries, then be collected upon delivery completion and taken back to Dartford and finally drive home to Longfield. Local residents and businesses will also lose the option of collecting parcels from their local office. We feel moving operations to Dartford will have a detrimental effect on the Royal Mail customers served by this office and the staff who work there as well as an unnecessary negative impact on the environment.
We ask you to sign our petition which will be sent to the Chief Executive of Royal Mail, Moya Greene, and to Parliament requesting that plans for the closure of Royal Mail Longfield be stopped and the office be allowed to continue to provide a much needed local service for the residents and businesses based in the village and rural locations it currently covers.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
