Stop the LLC Tax

Opened on December 12, 2009 | Contact Petition Author

Andy Sanborn and Andrew Hemingway are two small business owners outraged by a new 13.5% tax the Governor is trying to impose. We created this site as a way for small business owners all over the state to join with us, and send a message loud and clear to Concord to STOP THE LLC TAX. We believe in the power of small business, we know that it is the small businesses that create jobs, stimulate the economy, and generate wealth. And we cannot sit by as our fragile economy is pushed farther over the edge. Please stand with us in STOPPING THE LLC TAX. Contact information: stopllctax@gmail.com Gov. Lynch, As a New Hampshire resident I am deeply concerned about the negative economic consequences of the proposed $30 Million tax, coming from a 5% tax increase on business owners/partners, in addition to the already existing 8.5% business profits tax for a total new tax increase of 13.5%. We all know that small businesses are the backbone of New Hampshire's economy and the engine of growth that could lead us out of this crippling recession by creating new jobs. However this tax will punish successful small businesses, the very same people the government has spent years trying to attract to our state. Further it will limit the ability of small companies to raise capital, expand, or hire new employees. This is exactly the wrong policy for our state. As Governor I urge you to do everything in your power to stop the implementation of this incredibly damaging tax increase. Sincerely,

Rodney Mustoconcordthanks this tax should have never been created. Takes brians to do this in a down economy.
Stephen MannConcord, NHBy creating an LLC tax it DISCOURAGES businesses from forming in New Hampshire. The existing businesses either pay the fee or close and move out of state. Thus creating a bigger demand for more taxes

These anti-business tactics to fill irresponsible budget holes need to stop. We want to welcome businesses to the state not scare them away!! Wendylee BrownCandia NHSmall businesses are struggling as it is and working hard to make every dollar count, there should be more support for local businesses in the communities, it is bad enough that several small business have gone out of business last year. This will not help support the economy it will only make the tax burden worse.

Julie ClearyRochesterThis is nothing but an income tax, which you promised when running you would to implement. You're back dooring it and putting the burden on the backs of small business who are trying to stay in business. Most LLC's are just companies in name only, so small business owners are able to get funding for their small business. We don't profit from the LLC, it is just a vehicle. We already pay our fair share and them some w/the BET. Your signing a death warrant for LLC's and small business in the State of NH. Shame on you!

Deborah JohnsonExeter NHThe LLC tax is poorly written, hastily prepared and sent out in the dark of night. Why? It was believed that the LLC tax would help to float the boat (budget) , ignoring the fact that the boat is full of holes......
