Of Brigend, South Wales were tragically killed after becoming trapped in electronically powered security gates in Summer 2010.

This petition is one of many measures being taken to publicise the danger of electrically powered gates,with the hope that any further deaths and injuries can be prevented.

(1)Provision of Safety beams to all electrically powered gates;

(2) Provision of Anti Crushing devices to all electrically powered gates;

(3)Regular checks for electric gates to ensure that protection devices are correctly and maintained and correctly fitted

(4) We want legislation to ensure that no one can install powered gates without the appropriate training;

(5) Legislation to require all powered gates/ Manchine in pubic places to have a safety kite mark C E Regulations

From 1990 to 2010 CPSC has estimated that nearly 25,000 people were involved in automatic gate related including 9,000 children under 15 years old.Each year over 2,000 people including 800 children are treated in hospital emergency room for injuries to the head neck arm, and hand due to automatic sliding gate defects. This is not an up to date fact how many more people must be killed or hurt befor we do something.
