This is a petition to get the Vesta class USS Aventine, as featured in numerous Star Trek novels, included in the Star Trek magazine and model collection, Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection.
"if more than 5,000 people sign up solemnly promising to buy a Titan or an Enterprise-F, we'll almost certainly do it. If anyone wants to make that happen then feel free - it's a serious offer. But, whatever you do, don't email me! I'm not going to count 5,000 emails."
Ben has confirmed this is a serious offer, 5000 is the the number he would need to make a model as a special issue, separate from the main run. He needs email addresses so he can follow-up on the pledges here, effectively a promise to pre-order, so do make sure to include yours when signing the petition.
The USS Aventine, commanded by the now Captain Ezri Dax, first appeared in the crossover novel trilogy Destiny, by David Mack, and has since become one of the major ships in the Star Trek novel universe, appearing in several other books.
Other Vesta class ships have also appeared in many other books set after Destiny, most significantly in Kirsten Beyer's Voyager novels, where several ships of the class are part of the Full Circle fleet, alongside Voyager, returning to the Delta Quadrant via slipstream drive.
The Vesta class design is by Mark Rademaker, and debuted in the 2010 Ships of the Line calendar. It has since appeared on several book covers on both US editions, and original artwork for German language releases. Mark Rademaker himself made the dramatic cover featuring the Aventine, for Takedown, the most recent novel to feature the ship. The Vesta class is also a available to players of Star Trek Online.
If you would like to see this beauty and significant starship design made into a model in The Official Starships Collection, please add your name to this petition and help spread the word.
One final thought: The Vesta class is a particularly long and thin design. If it were to be produced at the regular issue model size then it would be very small indeed, so it might be worth using the comments feature on this petition to specifically request a larger scale model!
If you are a fan of the ships of Trek-lit, please do also lend your support to the USS Titan petition.
There are also petitions for ships from other corners of the Star Trek universe, so if you're interested check out Earth Spacedock (an iconic canon design which surely is worthy of inclusion), Star Trek Online's USS Enterprise-F, and the campaign for a global release of the Japanese subscriber bonus Borg Cube.
